I do really love your work and it's always a treat to see how you've decided to tackle your projects.Nicolehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00783157179667934339noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5745737319290403090.post-17803386432794622272008-06-30T08:19:00.000-04:002008-06-30T08:19:00.000-04:00Thanks! I saw some of your artwork in Cicada (I don't quite remember the issue, but you were the spot artist, and was really inspired by your youthful, quirky style!Captian Leander Jones,Genthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16275011851420051284noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5745737319290403090.post-30793652291837456032008-06-11T23:06:00.000-04:002008-06-11T23:06:00.000-04:00hey I think your stuff is pretty awesome. I am just now starting to get back into the swing of things after graduation and all that it entails... so the "no response" was not personal.

Pattern would be cool on this piece. A spot of busy-ness (if that is even a word) would help offset all of the flat shapes. Now where to put the pattern is easier said than done. I know the answer...hemm(I do not)hemm... but will let you figure it out for yourself...

I look forward to the next post!

ps
my buddy francis says the society show was awesome...I wish I could have made it but it was the day of graduation for us... how did it go for you MICA folk?Andrew R. I like the subtle "she loves me, she loves me not" fortune implied by the flower! It's kind of a visual word game, some might call it an illustration!! Ha, ha, ha. Interpreting Honesty and Friendship as perhaps two aspects of an ideal man was inspired (and maybe says a little bit about the artist too?). It seems that the last three pieces I have seen have shown you developing a certain style: the "Rock'N Roll" wannabe bustin loose from his office cubical world, the Cicada magazine cover, and now this fortune cookie fortune illustration. I like them all. They have a sense of playful sophistication that capture the emotions of the moment. The casual observer will notice they are aesthetically pleasing, while someone who lingers longer will see clever details the more they look. It's hard to illustrate obtuse concepts with pictures, but you pulled it off, Kali. Nicely done.Dignonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06125388765754849065noreply@blogger.com
